18. Silk 'n' Copper 18" by 24" £500
Part of my exhibition at The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Genome Campus, Hinxton, Cambs. All the pieces in this exhibition were inspired by elements of protein structure. This textile was made almost entirely from silk, with just a small amount of copper shim added ( to represent the metal ions found at the active sites of enzymes). The design was inspired by the arrangement of atoms in an imagined sheet of silk.
